No doubt pressure from Mr. Disney's company. After all, right now, the first Mickey cartoons are in public domain in Canada.

Michael Geist's blog (http://www.michaelgeist.ca/index.php) and Howard Knopf's blog (http://excesscopyright.blogspot.com/) are good places for information on what's going on with the Canadian copyright legislation.

zeropaid.com
torrentfreak.com

often cover the more international copyright news (slightly biased towards a certain point of view mind.

TorrentFreak.com is blocked by my uni for some reason, the ironic thing: PirateBay isn't blocked.
