Family trees?

Post by jujimufu »

I think it would be quite helpful (and interesting!) to be able to browse composers who belong to the same family (e.g. Bach, Strauss, Mozart, Schulhoff etc) by their family tree. Maybe in their Composer Page there could be a string saying "X's son, and father of Y." and then a link saying "view family tree" where the whole family tree could be portrayed.

Or, perhaps, a kind of "teacher tree" where you could see which composers studied with whom (e.g. in Stravinsky's page there could be a "Studied with Rimsky-Korsakov" (which would be a link to Rimsky-Korsakov's page), and in Rimsky-Korsakov's page it could say "Teacher of Stravinsky, studied with Balakirev" etc etc). It could provide some interesting biographical background, and one could jump across a related series of composers, to either trace how a certain composers was influenced, and how he influenced others in turn.
