Hi all.

New here but more than willing to help out with this excellent project.
Let me know what I can do. My PC is on 24/7 and can easily set to process stuff overnight.

You would need a Linux system to run the automated removal script, which is already installed in my computer and the run is nearly complete. We are now focusing the next step - designing the new interface for orchestral entries with complete parts and reviewing the processed files. If you are a copyright reviewer, or has experience in working on IMSLP site template, you would be able to help us and you should talk to Yagan quickly.

Hi there!

i have more or less the complete woodwinds parts of
Mendelssohn Elijah (only until tomorrow)
Mendelssohn Paulus
Haydn Creation / Schöpfung
Mendelssohn Psalm 42
here at home. the first 3 are in an awkward page size, but almost certainly out of copyright - not sure about the last one.
question at hand: since the Orchestral Parts project is under way and it has Elijah and the Creation - is there a need to somehow digitalize them? in other words: how far has the orchestral parts project advanced? ;)
i'll check the copyright for the Psalm and Paulus - and if it is out of copyright i will probably scan the Psalm, and take pictures of the Paulus with my digicam using a tripod. actually looks better than a scan, after converting it to greyscale or even B&W. the only downside: Music OCR software can't read it if it has the slightest "bend".

greetings

I have just updated the status page for the OP project. Parts acquisition from the OP project (vol 1-10) has already been completed and logo removal should also be completed by the end of this week.

The next step will be copyright reviewing and designing a web template for incorporation into IMSLP proper.

If you have any scanned orchestral parts, please make sure it is not in the Orchestra Musician's series

http://www.orchmusiclibrary.com

before you spend time on your work.

We need volunteers to check the Project's files that will be uploaded to FTP in the near future to make sure all logos have been removed. Knowledge of how to remove them or copyright knowledge is not needed at all. There are about 10,000 files and about 200,000 pages, so we need a lot of volunteers (at least 50).

I'll be creating a thread soon, but please register interest.

Copyright checking would likely be done by the copyright team who have passed a test. If you wish to apply, msg one of them.

Hey - most of the copyright has already been done by Carolus for the cello parts. Couldn't you just use that? In fact, I believe that Generoso uploaded the entire collection of cello.

However, I, of course will help, and be liaison if necessary.

It's likely there won't be that much work, but I don't know that. :P

Yes, I recommend that the Violin parts be split into Violins I and Violins II, but the cleanup looks quite wonderful - a fine job by the OPP team. I uploaded the Violin parts for the three Dukas titles. Cello and Percussion parts were already in place, so there was no issue about having to research what had been scanned, etc. This should go pretty fast once things are ready to go. Just remember that to make the parts appear in score order the numbering assigned for file names, file descriptions, page counts, uploaders, upload dates and possibly scanner credits might have to be adjusted on what is already in place.

does that mean proofreading is no longer needed?
