Public domain arrangements of Christmas Standards?

Post by midbeat »

I'm new to IMSLP and was drawn by my search for public domain arrangements of traditional Christmas standards (Hallelujah, Joy to the World, and on and on). I'm looking for arrangements for any sort of instrumentation, but chamber groups and orchestra would be nice. Ideally there's also a MIDI sequence available. Is anyone aware of a resource where I might find any of this?

Try cantorion.org. They tend do be a good source. There's also a dedicated carols page somewhere...

http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/ - There aren't many arrangements and many of the hymns just list the lyrics. It's not a bad starting place for making your own arrangement though.

Thanks for the suggestions. They're both great -- but I can't find many full instrumental arrangements (as you point out). I'm wondering if I need to go to a library for this? Though obviously it would be nice if they're digitized.
