Rhapsody in Blue for piano and orchestra

Post by MalteM »

Hello,
does anyone know where to get score (and maybe parts) of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in the version for piano and symphony orchestra?

Seeing as how the work page for "Rhapsody in Blue" only has protected scores, even if there was the version you are looking for, it would probably be copyrighted.

You can order them from Alfred music. Grofé orchestrated it, and that will be protected for quite some time.

I think orchestral parts for the Rhapsody are available via rental only.

Ah, you’re right. I only thought “Gershwin died more than 70 years ago” (I’m from Germany) but I didn’t know that it’s not only the composer’s but also the editor’s life time which defines a work as public domain or not…
