F. Busoni - Canonic Variations & Fugue, BV B40

Post by Diets »

Hi, I am looking for Busoni's adaptation of Bach's musical offering (BWV 1079) which is called "Canonic Variations & Fugue, BV B40"
I got acquainted with this piece through Hamelin's 3 CD Busoni Album. It is a nice adaptation and I want to give it a shot. Does anyone has some ideas where I can find the score?

it was also published as #2 of "Zwei Kontrapunkt-Studien für Klavier : nach Joh. Seb. Bach"- Worldcat shows several listings. (The Hathitrust version is limited, which doesn't make much sense since it was first published in 1917 and there's nothing, afaik, PD-CA or PD-EU about it. Ah well.)

I think so, yes. Looks right, anyway, and the dedication (to Hans Huber, 1852-1921) is right, too... and a Worldcat search "Busoni 27972" (27972 is the plate on that score) produces

"Zwei Kontrapunkt-Studien für Klavier, nach Joh. Seb. Bach." so yes, that's what's being looked for (the BV B40 part of it). It contains from the looks of things 9 sections, maybe not the whole Offering, but still, a nice arrangement...
