Engraving

Can anybody recommend a program which can be installed under Windows without a PhD in computer science (sorry MusixTeX!) and which is versatile enough to be able to engrave scores in contemporary form, possibly microtonal notations, mensural notation and neumes?

Are you including Lilypond in programs that 'require a Ph.D. in computer science'?

I've found this True Type font for use in 14-15th century notation:

I haven't used it but I imagine that it might be easier to use on a conceptual level than many of the notation packages (such as Sibelius or Finale). In Photoshop, you'd just drop your notes as text "letters" onto a staff. You won't be able to get the useful playback properties of a notation program, unfortunately, but that's the price you pay for conceptual simplicity.
As for neumes, Google "neumes font" and you'll get all sorts of interesting results.
